An evening of inspiration and meaningful connections, in advance of World Refugee Day. Join SparknShare, in collaboration with Spaces, for our panel discussion and networking event where refugee community leaders, charities and supporters will share stories of strength and resilience. Limited space, sign up here: http://bit.ly/sparknshare-refugeeHow does one define success for Hong Kong’s community of refugees and asylum seekers? What examples are there of how community members have been able to build the lives they want to lead today, rather than waiting for tomorrow? How have Hong Kong’s charities and supporters helped empower community members to rebuild hope and achieve self-reliance? What more can we as supporters of the community do to help create further success stories? One of the most well known advocates of refugee and minority rights, and selected in 2019 as a Cathay Pacific “Changemaker", Jeffrey Andrews will share with us his extensive experience in the community. He is a Senior Social Worker at Christian Action - Centre for Refugees (CFR) and will be joined on the panel by “Mr. A”, Outreach Coordinator at the CFR, lawyer from East Africa and the first legally employed refugee in Hong Kong. Virginie Goethals, Co-founder and Managing Director of RUN, will share the stories of some of the most vulnerable refugees, many of them women, and how her charity has helped turn the negative into the positive —a journey of healing and recovery. We are also excited to welcome to the panel a Representative of UNHCR sub-office for Hong Kong. Short panel discussion will be followed up by Q&A and networking drinks. “Strength and Spirit: Defining Success for Today’s Refugees" is part of SparknShare’s speaker series, where we bring together social enterprises, entrepreneurs and modern nonprofits and create meaningful connections. Panelists: * Jeffrey Andrews, Senior Social Worker at Christian Action 基督教勵行會- Centre for Refugees* Mr. A, Outreach Coordinator at Chr
